Race really doesn't matter, pick one you like the looks of. After a few days you'll probably be cross training other racial ships etc. |

Technically you could do it day one, as long as you bought ob ammo that fits in your noobship guns. You'd be a terrible OB pilot, but you'd get paid for doing it. To do real bombardments you'll need a destroyer, which means training a racial frigate to 3 (gallente, amarr or caldari, projectile bombardments aren't all that great most of the time). That'll take a couple days. You'll also want to train up for warp core stabilizers, under the propulsion upgrades section of the market. Put those on an OB ship you aren't going to fight other ships in...lets you avoid getting tackled and run away. |

Oh, and Amarr faction warfare bombardments pay out really well right now. |

I did an eve trial back when your starting race matters, and you trained skills that let you train skills faster. I wanted to like it back then, but I just couldn't :p
Eve orbitals are now earned by the Eve guy sitting over the district, connected to it, for 3 minutes. While you're doing that assume that everyone in system knows you're there and be ready to run. Tackled means someone locked onto you and turned on a warp disruptor or scrambler...disabling your warp engines so you can't get away. Warp core stabilizers counteract this, you need one to protect against a single disruptor and two for a scrambler.
When it comes to doing orbitals I find the most helpful thing is to go into the starmap and under the sovereignty folder, go to faction warfare and select militia ships killed in the last hour. The big orange and red blotches are where the big battles and gate camps are. Then when I get a district where a battle is starting I do a search in the star map panel, right click on it and "set destination". If the route goes through a system that is creating a red / orange blotch, I normally ignore that battle and look for another one. If you have to go more than 8 or 9 jumps to get there, the battle will be well under way before you show up. |
